Passing away in 2017, Tom Chitty enjoyed nearly thirty-five highly successful years of experience as a Realtor. The founder of Tom Chitty & Associates, he was consistently ranked in the top 1% of Realtors nationwide as well as the the number one team in the Triad for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Yost & Little Realty. A native North Carolinian, Tom was originally from Murfreesboro in the eastern part of the state.

Graduating from Wake Forest University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and in 1972 with a master’s degree in Education Administration, Tom went on to teach Latin and English as well as being an administrator for sixteen years. In 1972, Tom was inducted into the coveted “Order of The Long Leaf Pine” by then Governor, Robert W. Scott.

Greensboro was home to Tom for over forty years. Through hard work, determination and a highly focused client service mentality, Tom established himself as a top-producing agent for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Yost & Little Realty.

With the creation of Tom Chitty & Associates in 2005, Tom improved on his exceptional service with a talented team. The team is comprised of full-time agents; all are licensed Broker/Realtors, ensuring that you’re always dealing with knowledgeable, highly competent professionals.

During the difficult period of Tom’s passing in 2017, Barry Hardeman, Tom’s life and business partner of 31 years , manned the helm of Tom Chitty & Associates. Barry, along with TCA associate Steve Gray, has guided the team to increased sales each and every year – a truly impressive feat when one considers the time, care and devotion that Barry unselfishly gave Tom in loving support during that same time period.

Through Barry and the team’s efforts, Tom Chitty & Associates will continue to serve Greensboro and the Triad real estate market going forward. The exemplary business and moral standards Tom espoused that were the reasons for his success – his integrity, moral principles, work ethic and sheer determination – live on in the culture at Tom Chitty & Associates. These timeless principles that Tom lived by throughout his career have served as the solid foundation of Tom Chitty & Associates during these past trying years and will continue to do so into the future.

The team at Tom Chitty & Associates would like to thank everyone for the incredible outpouring of love and support in the passing of our beloved “gentle giant” of real estate. It is our intention to make Tom proud of his team’s achievements going forward while we adhere to the principles that made him a towering icon of our industry.
